Trap cards are used in response to certain situations, most often this depends on your opponent's activities. Spell Yu-Gi-Oh! cards can either power up your monsters, destroy other cards, increase HP and bring into play a plethora of other in-game mechanics, making them absolutely critical to learn for intermediate and advanced players. Once per turn players can summon one monster from their card deck in an attempt to destroy their foe.
Your turn will be indicated by orienting your card in a set direction, signalling the face-up attack position, face-up defense position or face-down defense position.
